Arctic Wildlife Tours whale safari

From 2024 we are doing our first whale safaris with departure from Skjervøy outside Tromsø onboard the MS Polar XPlorer. This unique ship is mostly used for film expeditions into the high Arctic. We feel lucky to be chartering it in November 2024 for doing our first whale photography tours.

We are familiar with this from before and our guides have been doing this for quit some time. We know where to find the whales and we do have first hand information from researchers and fisheries in the area. For getting close to the whales we are driving two polar circle RIB boats with 80Hp motors on. This will give us the speed and flexibility to get around for creating the best chances for pictures.

We will respect the whales and we are not doing any snorkling or diving on our trips. If the chances are good a pole-cam underwater housing could be used. We are also photographing until the darkness arrives and we use powerful flashlights and the a flash on the camera to create some artistic photographs. The RIB boats make it possible for us to stay at sea longer times at a time, compared to zodiac inflatables.

Wondering what to expect? Please get in touch for more information and to talk about what you can expect.
