Main season - limited options

A playground of purple fireweeds

Every year, in late July and throughout August, fireweeds bloom in abundance on this remote island. During this limited period we will be guiding walking tours, searching for polar bears as they play and rest in a field of pink and purple flowers.

The trip dates are based on the previous year's blooms, aiming to be in the right place at the right time to capture some stunning photos of the great white bears in the season's stunning and colorful surroundings. We never facilitate more than three expeditions during fireweed season, so make sure to secure your spot to partake in this feast of colors.

Peak and fall/winter season

An array of astonishing photo opportunities

The island also offers many other amazing backdrops for wildlife photography, such as great rocks, green flats and the big blue ocean. A major highlight is always to see bear cubs playing together or resting with their mothers in the wonders of this natural canvas.

In addition to polar bears, we can expect to see other wildlife such as the arctic fox, arctic hare, arctic tern, marmots, caribou, seals and belugas during the months of summer. In the winter we can also encounter gray wolves and experience the wonders of the northern lights dancing across the starry winter sky.

A private, stress-free experience

No crowds and no vehicles. How does that sound to you? Imagine just hearing the sounds of the birds, the wind and the waves, as we explore this secluded and beautiful island together.

We will arrive on the island by small transfer boat. For the summer trips, we will be accommodated on a floating pram on the island shore, and for the winter trips in a lodge situated on the open tundra. The accommodations offer all necessary facilities, with a chef providing us with the daily meals.

From the early light of dawn and into the golden evening light, we will be spending long hours walking around the island to explore and photograph polar bears and other wildlife that may appear on the tundra or on the shore of the ocean. When the sun sets we might even capture the dancing northern lights in the sky.

A respectful approach to nature is our commitment

For every expedition we lead, our goal is to use our extensive knowledge and experience to facilitate a true connection between man and nature. And we always make an equal effort to ensure that our expedition participants are left with wonderful impressions, as we do to ensure that our environmental footprints in the nature and wildlife we visit are as small as possible.

This is one of the reasons why we only facilitate small group trips, which also make our expeditions exclusive and your experience more private.
