Captain Arctic

Captain Arctic

A World-First in Sustainable Exploration

Meet Captain Arctic (yes it's her name).

Picture a vessel with impressive sails, powered by both wind and sun. Imagine its silence, its fairly low speed, leaving no trace and emitting 90% less emission than most of the boats of the region.

Its small size, 70-meter long, with only 36 passengers and 24 crew members onboard, allows no set itineraries, no mass standard experiences and further respect of the biodiversity.

The perfect tool for exploration

An ice-strengthened hull, next-generation sonar, and a compact size allow Captain Arctic to navigate through ice, access remote and even uncharted areas, and bring you closer to the wild. More exploration. More landings. More time outside. More adventure.

New tech for low impact

1. SOLAR SAILS : Our 35-meter-high sails can be retracted like a Swiss Army knife when needed. Built to endure the harshest weather, they are made of aluminum and fitted with 2000 m² of solar panels.

2. CLEAN ELECTRIC PROPULSION : When the sails can harness wind, our ship relies on two propeller shafts that produce energy and act as hydro turbines.

3. AUTONOMOUS WATER PRODUCTION : Our ship generates fresh water from the sea through reverse osmosis.

4. ORGANIC HEATING SYSTEM : In polar regions, heating usually relies on energy-intensive fuel boilers. Our ship pioneers a different approach with a pellet boiler that uses recycled wooden waste pellets.

5. ZERO WASTE POLICY AT SEA : several specialized systems onboard ensure we achieve this goal (organic food digester, a treatment tank that transforms black, gray water into technical potable water.)

From the moment you step aboard, everything is designed to help you switch off and be fully present. We take care of every detail so you can fully embrace each moment, each emotion, and leave with memories that stay with you long after the journey ends.

A Nordic food story

Our cuisine draws inspiration from Nordic culinary traditions.

For breakfast, follow the aroma of freshly baked bread to discover our chef’s daily buffet made of homemade muesli, seasonal delights, or typical Nordic pastries.

Lunchtime. Between two adventures, take a well-earned break. Warm soup, comforting hot dishes and fresh desserts await at the buffet.

At dinner, enjoy travel anecdotes and dishes like freshly caught Arctic salmon sushi or local algae and gravlax.

Forget the Champagne bar. Forget the wine list. A pairing chosen for you, every time.
