ICELAND PHOTO TOUR - LANDSCAPES
Iceland photo tour with guides from Arctic Wildlife Tours. Our tour will begin in the Reykjavik area and carry on along the South coast to the village of Hofn. This tour offers some of the most photogenic places in Iceland and you will experience many beautiful locations in the area. The main focus of this tour is starting at Seljalandsfoss, a well-known tourist attraction that offers good photo opportunities all year round. It is most impressive because you can walk underneath and all the way around this astonishing waterfall. Another remarkable and somewhat famous location we will visit, is the 60-meter-wide waterfall, Skógafoss. Both of these waterfalls can often have a rainbow in front of them, depending on the time of day. Close to Seljalandsfoss is a less visited location which has a beautiful waterfall hidden inside a canyon, waterproof boots will be required if you wish to enter this area.
In late autumn many birds have left but the landscapes and the Atlantic Ocean swell rolling in is worth trying some pictures. A big rock arch reaches into the ocean on the south part of Dyrhólaey. Reynisfjara and its beautiful basalt columns is a place we will visit and have a closer view of the Reynisdrangar sea stacks. This location is known for unpredictable swell and people are urged to take special care on the beach. From Reynisfjara we drive to the beautiful village of Vík which is as far as we go in this day tour on the South coast. One of the iconic spots in Vík is the church on the hill, overlooking the small village and the black sand beach with a different view to Reynisdrangar sea stacks. In Vík you have great restaurants with local food and various hotels and guesthouses.
Exploring the area south of Vatnajökull we will come to Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon including a morning session at the Diamond Beach as they are directly beside one another. We need to be at the beach before sunrise around 06:00 am. We also will have one evening and try you catch the sunset at the Diamond Beach. After a morning by Jökulsárlón we will head east and make the Vestrahorn mountain in Stokksnes a possible destination to capture the sunset at this beautiful location. The beach at Stokksnes offers good photography opportunities and often Vestrahorn mountain reflects in the wet sand on the beach. Throughout the journey we will look for interesting scenic landscapes, perhaps we will see some Icelandic horses and maybe wildlife such as swans and reindeer.
Iceland has the most spectacular landscapes in the world and some settings will take your breath away. The final day will be a relax for the day at the blue lagoon, an experience you will never forget. It is complete with a swim up bar where you can try local beer and specialty drinks. The lagoon changes water all on its own every 24 hours. It is so clean and it is the absolute perfect temperature to soak in for hours. It is all standing or sitting depth and is suitable for all ages and swimming capabilities.
