SVALBARD AUTUMN PHOTO EXPEDITION 2021
On short notice Arctic Wildlife Tours announce this September expedition on Svalbard as a AFTER COVID happening. We are tired of sitting in our homes. This will be a tour accessible for fully vaccinated customers with all valid papers for traveling into Norway and Svalbard. We now announce this second trip on Svalbard in the end of September.
Late autumn is good for landscape shots when it comes to colors and light so we will have a main focus on doing an Svalbard wildlife photography expedition as well as spending some time on landscape photography. During this expedition we will have the opportunity to see and photograph wildlife like Polar Bears, Walruses, Whales, Ivory Gulls, Bearded Seals, Harbor Seals Arctic Foxes and the Northern Fulmar.
This is an expedition for nature photographers who are passionate about photographing in magical light conditions and who want the possibility to get the best out of each unique moment on this tour.
To enhance the chances for better photographs we will schedule longer shore stops than usual in order to provide participants with enough time for photography. We will use two zodiac boats to go ashore or when searching for wildlife at sea or in the drift ice.
Please send email to [email protected] if you have any questions about this trip, or just send an inquiry about it at the bottom of this page.

Estimated travel route during this photo tour
This photo tour and itinerary will be planned in accordance with prevailing weather and ice conditions. In September it will be less ice, some places it will start to freeze up again, and we head for places we can find some ice in the drift-ice or by the glaziers.
Day 0 We always recommend to arrive Longyearbyen at least one day and night in advance. Arrival day.
Day 1 Departure from Longyearbyen through Isfjorden. Heading north or south, depending on the drift ice situation, into the drifting ice. We also search for wildlife and landscapes in the fjords.
Day 1-10 We set course for the areas where we know we will meet the drift ice. No matter if we sail north or south this will be the focus. Some of the fjords and islands will be interesting to visit and we will search systematically for wildlife wherever we go. Our goal will be to visit some of the northernmost and far east islands in Svalbard like Storøya. This will be possible only in September because of less ice.
The route is just a estimate for where we can sail. This can, and probably will, be changed as we know this from our earlier expeditions.
Day 11 Leaving the ship after breakfast and prepare the travel home.
